EMMY‑WINNING SECRETS AT RED ROCKS RETURNS FOR SEASON TWO
Secrets at Red Rocks S2 (8 x 24’), the live-action family fantasy adventure produced by Libertine Pictures, returns for a new season with higher stakes and cinematic scale. The Children's & Family Emmy Award-winning and multi-nominated series is adapted from New Zealand author Rachael King's acclaimed novel Red Rocks.
Season two will be presented to international buyers at MIPCOM as part of WildBrain's slate.
In season two, Jake returns to Wellington's spectacular Red Rocks coastline, where the human world collides with ancient selkie mythology. His two-year-old sister Daisy carries hidden selkie blood, making her both vulnerable and wild. When the grief-stricken selkie Alice sets her sights on Daisy, her anguish unleashes storms, earthquakes and environmental chaos, forcing the family into a battle to save Daisy and restore the balance between their two worlds.
LIBERTINE PICTURES PARTNERS WITH GORDIAN MEDIA ACROSS THE TASMAN
Libertine Pictures has formed a strategic partnership with Gordian Media, a new boutique unscripted production company with bases in Australia and New Zealand.
Gordian Media is focused on developing and producing distinctive unscripted content for international audiences across factual entertainment, documentaries, specialist factual and premium formats. The partnership builds on the long-standing working relationship between Brendan Dahill and Richard Fletcher, and will see Gordian Media and Libertine Pictures develop and produce new projects together across Australia and New Zealand.
Gordian Media is led by Brendan Dahill, Managing Partner, alongside Justin Corbett, Partner & Head of Development.
Brendan Dahill, Managing Partner of Gordian Media, said:
“Richard and I have worked together successfully for a number of years, so continuing that relationship through Gordian was a natural step. Australia and New Zealand have fantastic creative talent and stories, and by working together we can develop ambitious unscripted projects with genuine international potential.”
FUSEBOX ENTERTAINMENT TO REPRESENT LIBERTINE PICTURES' SCRIPTED SLATE
In the UK, Libertine Pictures is partnering with Fusebox Entertainment, the new London-based scripted label and consultancy launched by international television executive Jason Simms. Fusebox Entertainment provides development, co-production, financing and distribution consultancy to producers and financiers, alongside its own slate of drama co-productions developed with creative and production partners.
Under the partnership, Fusebox Entertainment will represent Libertine Pictures' scripted slate internationally, with Jason Simms representing the company and its projects at MIPCOM.
Jason Simms brings more than two decades of experience across acquisitions, development, co-production and distribution, including senior roles at Sky Studios and Fox Networks Group. At Sky Studios, Jason Simms oversaw commercial strategy, deficit financing and producer relationships for more than 60 Sky Originals and third-party premium scripted series.
Richard Fletcher, Managing Director, Libertine Pictures, said:
“These three developments are really part of the same story for us. The Emmy nominations and subsequent win for Secrets at Red Rocks showed that ambitious New Zealand stories can connect internationally, and our partnerships with Gordian and Fusebox give us strong relationships on both sides of the world as we build the next generation of Libertine projects.
“Brendan and I have worked together for a long time, so there’s a lot of trust and shared ambition there. Jason brings an international perspective, strong relationships and a real understanding of how projects need to be positioned in today’s market. Having him represent Libertine and our slate gives us a much stronger international presence.”
Jason Simms, Founder & Executive Producer of Fusebox Entertainment, said:
“Libertine has built a strong track record of creating distinctive New Zealand stories with real international appeal. Richard and the team have an exciting scripted slate, and I’m delighted to be working with them to connect those projects with the right creative, financing and distribution partners.”
