SECRETS AT RED ROCKS SECURES THREE CHILDREN’S & FAMILY EMMY NOMINATIONS AS SEASON 2 SETS EARLY 2026 SHOOT IN WELLINGTON

Libertine Pictures’ family adventure drama Secrets at Red Rocks has picked up three Children’s & Family Emmy® Award nominations, as the New Zealand-made series prepares to enter production on its second season in early 2026.
Season 1 earned nods for Outstanding Writing for a Preschool or Children’s Series (Martha Hardy-Ward), Outstanding Editing for a Preschool or Children’s Live Action Program (Alex Boyd), and Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for a Live Action Program (David Long & Stephen Gallagher).
The international momentum follows the show’s win as National Winner – Best Children’s Programme at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, where it now advances to the Gold Award finals in December.
In New Zealand, the series is also a finalist across five categories at the 2025 NZ Screen Awards: NZ On Air Best Children’s Programme, Best Cinematography - Drama Series (Simon Tutty), Best Contribution to a Soundtrack - Series (Tom Miskin, Melanie Graham, Mike Bayliss, Steve Finnigan), Best Original Score - Series (Stephen Gallagher, David Long), and Best Post Production Design - Series (Alana Cotton). Winners will be announced Friday 21 November.

We’re proud to support stories that deliver to local audiences and stand tall internationally.”The second season will go into production in early 2026, with filming to take place on Wellington’s South Coast, continuing the first season’s coastal setting and world-building.
Returning for Season 2 are Director/Producer David Stubbs (Mystic, Daffodils, Reservoir Hill), Executive Producer Richard Fletcher, and lead developer and writer Martha Hardy-Ward, alongside writers Steph Matuku, Helen Pearse-Otene and Matthew Whittet and Story Producer Kathryn Burnett.
Secrets at Red Rocks is produced by Libertine Pictures, co-commissioned by BYUtv (US) and Sky New Zealand Originals, with investment from NZ On Air. WildBrain handles global distribution. The series benefits from the New Zealand Screen Production Rebate, cash-flowed by Hinterland.
